Newly revised law on solid wastes pollution be implemented from September

On April 29, the 17th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 13th National People’s Congress reviewed and adopted the revised Law on the Prevention and Control of Environmental Pollution by Solid Wastes, which will take effect on September 1, 2020.

On April 29, the 17th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 13th National People’s Congress reviewed and adopted the revised Law on the Prevention and Control of Environmental Pollution by Solid Wastes, which will take effect on September 1, 2020.

The newly revised Law clarifies that the prevention and control of environmental pollution by solid wastes adheres to the principles of reduction, recycling and harmlessness.

It is aimed to strengthen the supervision and management responsibilities of the government and its relevant departments, clarify the target responsibility system, credit records, joint prevention and joint control, whole process monitoring and information traceability and other systems, and clarify that the country needs to gradually realizes zero import of solid waste.

In terms of specific aspects, the law has perfected the industrial solid waste pollution prevention and control system.

In terms of domestic waste classification, the law clarifies that the country promotes the domestic waste classification system and establishes the principle of domestic waste classification.
