HKEX CE proposes to pilot Primary Equity Connect in GBA

Charles Li, member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and chief executive of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, said at the 24th CPPCC National Consultative Conference that at present, the capital markets of Shanghai, Shenzhen and Hong Kong have achieved interconnection in the secondary market.

He said that the government may consider studying and demonstrating “Primary Equity Connect.”, that is, piloting the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to promote the secondary market’s connectivity mechanism to the primary market.
