The Fujian Development and Reform Commission recently announced that, as of the end of the compliance period on August 15, 255 key emission companies included in the carbon emission management system of Fujian have paid off their annual quotas.

In 2017, Fujian’s carbon market incorporated 255 key emission entities in the sectors of power, steel, chemical, petrochemical, nonferrous metals, civil aviation, building materials, papermaking, and ceramics. During the compliance period, the trading price of carbon quotas fluctuated between 15 and 20 yuan per ton, showing a steady trend. Seven of the companies used the FFCER (Fujian Forestry Certified Emission Reduction) to offset the confirmed emission reductions, with a sales volume of 705,790 tons.

As the eighth carbon trading pilot in China, Fujian takes the lead in incorporating ceramics enterprises into emission quota management. Now there are 109 enterprises in the sector of ceramics participating in the carbon market, which is the most among the nine industries.

As of August 15, a total of 8.547 million tons of allowances were transacted in Fujian’s carbon market, with a turnover of 182.665 million yuan.
