Recently, 63 dual-powered trolleybuses have been put into use on the main roads of the historic center of Mexico City, the capital of Mexico, all of which come from China’s Yutong Bus. This batch of Yutong trolleybuses is the largest volume of dual-powered trolleybuses introduced to Mexico and the entire Latin American region.

Mexico City has been advocating priority for public transportation and green travel to alleviate urban issues such as traffic congestion and air pollution in recent years. The introduction of the emission-free trolleybuses from Yutong greatly boosts the development of the city’s green mobility.

The director of Mexico City’s Transportation Bureau said the Yutong Series was the first large-scale tram procurement in Mexico City in 20 years, which cost 453 million pesos (about 24.1 million dollars). He said in the next five years, Mexico City would replace a total of 500 buses with the new trolleybuses.

According to the Mexico market account manager of Yutong, the new vehicles are equipped with lithium-phosphate batteries, which allow the trolleybuses to reach a range of up to 75 kilometers under disconnected status. Besides, the overall design of the bus is considerate, where there are areas for guide dogs, disabled people, old and weak people, children, and pink seats exclusively for women. What’s more, there is a station voice announcement system inside and outside the vehicle.

Yutong’s new energy bus exports continue to increase. The total export volume of the Yutong bus in the Latin American market has exceeded 22,000, and its sales network covers more than 20 countries and regions.
