Robotics developer Dimension Robotics recently obtains tens of millions of yuan in Series B financing. The company’s founder, Tang Bowei, revealed that the latest business progress is in the development and promotion of rehabilitation robots.

Dimension Robotics was established in 2015, and mainly develops intelligent robots and operation systems for robots in the service and industrial sectors. The company also provides related personnel training.

Dimension Robotics has established cooperative relationships with more than 100 universities in China and dozens of international universities to jointly build robot engineering majors; and has carried out product development and application in the areas of warehouse inventory, logistics sorting, and other services.

Dimension Robotics positions its rehabilitation robots for consumers as auxiliary devices for professional medical treatment. Through collaborative robotic arms and active interaction, users can better perform upper limb rehabilitation and exercises, and improve upper limb motor and cognitive functions. The product has the advantages of low cost, strong interaction, and good automation.

The R&D team consists of dozens of engineers who have worked in top international robotic laboratories, with cutting-edge robot scientific research ability and rich development experience. The team members have graduated from top universities at home and abroad.

Founder and CEO Tang Bowei graduated from Tsinghua University with an undergraduate degree in automotive engineering. He went to Carnegie Mellon University in 2011 to study for a Ph.D. of humanoid robot kinematics and under Professor Chris Atkeson, the “father of Baymax”.

CTO Shang Weijian graduated from Department of Precision Instrument of Tsinghua University, and has a Ph.D. degree from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Shang conducts post-doctoral research at Harvard University in 2015 and his research interests are electromechanical systems and control methods for medical robots.
