Hainan issues regulations to ban disposable non-degradable plastic products

The provision is comprised of 30 articles, providing a list of banned plastics, a system to trace substitutes, standards for local governments, etc. The rule also pinpoints whose responsibility to implement the policy, the scope of the prohibition, the supply of alternative products, the measures to supervise, penalties for illegal acts, preferential policies for the substitute industry, publicity, and how to recycle waste plastic products.

By the end of 2025, production, sales, and use of all the plastic products on the list will be prohibited throughout Hainan.
