Central Bank report: China issued over 280 billion yuan in green bonds in 2018

According to a report released by Peoples’ Bank of China (PBOC) on 19th, China’s green finance market has expanded continuously and product service innovation has emerged continuously.

According to a report released by Peoples’ Bank of China (PBOC) on 19th, China’s green finance market has expanded continuously and product service innovation has emerged continuously.

China issued more than RMB280 billion in green bonds in 2018, while green bonds stock nearly 600 billion yuan.

The China Green Finance Development Report (2018) issued by PBOC shows that green finance has achieved new achievements and progress.

As of end of 2018, the balance of green credit of banking financial institutions in China amounted to 8.23 trillion yuan, up 16% year on year, while 1.13 trillion yuan was added throughout the year, accounting for 14.2% yuan in new lendings for enterprises and other units during the same period.

In 2018 green enterprises listed financing and refinancing totals 22.42 billion yuan.

New products, services and formats such as green fund, green insurance, green trust, green PPP and green lease continuously emerge.

According to the report, in order to mobilize various kinds of capital especially social capital participation in green project construction, policy formulation departments need to improve policy system constantly, research and formulate more innovative incentive constraints policies, constantly enrich green financial support policy toolbox.
