China has 60% year-on-year increase in green bond issuance by June 2019

Chinese issuers issued a total of 143.9 billion yuan ($21.8 billion) of green bonds in the first half of 2019, a year-on-year increase of 62 percent, according to the Report of China Green Bond Market (2019 First Semiannual Report) released by the China Central Depositary & Clearing Co., Ltd.
Among them, most of China’s green bonds are issued in the domestic market.

It is worth paying attention to that China’s green bonds are accelerating the process of internationalization.

According to incomplete statistics of Golden Credit Rating International Co.,Ltd, from 2016 to the end of June 2019, domestic entities in China issued a number of green bonds abroad.

A number of Chinese institutions, including the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China and the China Three Gorges Corporation, issued 21 green bonds on overseas exchanges such as the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and the Tokyo Pro-Bond Market, with an issue size of about 138.0291 billion yuan.
