Ride-sharing service provider WeMo recently announced that it has raised an undisclosed amount in a Series A round of financing led by AppWorks.

AppWorks is a Taiwan-based accelerator and venture capital firm active in the Southeast Asian area. This round of funding will help WeMo continue its growth in Taiwan, China, along with its first geographic expansion. Unlike its competitors like Lime, which use lightweight two-wheeled scooters, WeMo uses scooters that are commonly found locally.

WeMo co-founder and CTO Zheng Jie participated in the Move Virtual Asia webinar last week at Technode Global and claimed that WeMo is used by 25,000 people per day and that number is growing by 50% per month.
