Recently, Huawei released its Sustainability Report in 2019, which expounded the company’s sustainable development achievements in the past year.

These include ensuring the stable and safe operation of the network, implementing carbon emission reduction targets, addressing climate change, implementing the TECH4ALL digital inclusion initiative, and related initiatives supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The report shows that in 2019, Huawei provides network guarantees for more than 200 major events and natural disasters worldwide to ensure smooth communication.

Liang Hua, chairman of Huawei, said that it is our greatest social responsibility to support and guarantee the stable operation of hundreds of billions of dollars of stock networks in more than 170 countries and to continue to provide leading ICT products and services to more than 3 billion people worldwide.

In the report, Huawei also disclosed its mid- and long-term goals in terms of carbon emissions reduction, circular economy, and renewable energy, as well as related progress in 2019. In terms of carbon reduction, China’s main product energy efficiency has been improved by up to 22%.

Huawei introduced and implemented 1.25 billion kWh of clean energy electricity, which is equivalent to reducing 570,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions.

Regarding the circular economy, Huawei is committed to improving the efficiency of product life-cycle resource utilization. For example, the reuse rate of returned products reached 86%, and the landfill rate of electronic waste was further reduced to 1.24%.

In terms of renewable energy, the Huawei Park has built a total of 19.35 megawatt photovoltaic power plants, generating 13.57 million kWh in 2019.

Huawei mentioned that it also actively promotes the widespread application of smart photovoltaic solutions in the world. For example, the 300MW photovoltaic power station in Jujuy Province, Argentina, can generate 660 million kWh per year, which can provide clean electricity for 160,000 households.
