Cainiao Logistics with Air Bridge Cargo to facilitate Sino-European trade

The route was newly opened by Cainiao Logistics and Russian Air Bridge Cargo Airlines, starting from Hong Kong, via Liege, Belgium, to Madrid, Spain, which creates a new channel for Sino-European trade.

On July 14, a Boeing 747 fully loaded with over one hundred tons of foreign trade commodities took off from Hong Kong to Europe.

The route was newly opened by Cainiao Logistics and Russian Air Bridge Cargo Airlines, starting from Hong Kong, via Liege, Belgium, to Madrid, Spain, which creates a new channel for Sino-European trade.

As of today, Cainiao has opened 10 new intercontinental routes besides using the existing charter flights, carrying Chinese foreign trade commodities from cities like Hangzhou, Changsha, and Hong Kong, to Moscow, Liege, Riga, Siberia, Kuala Lumpur, New York, Madrid, Brazil, and Chile.

The newly opened route is planned to fly three flights per week from August, directly connecting the eHubs of Hong Kong Airport and Liege Airport, which are currently under construction, with Spain, China’s major export market, for the first time. At the same time, the new route will shorten the time bringing Chinese goods to European buyers by 30%.

Russian Air Bridge Cargo Airlines is part of Volga-Dnepr Group, the largest Russian cargo airline. Tatyana Arslanova, CEO of the group, said that they planned to open other new routes with Cainiao in the future for the deepening bilateral strategic cooperation had made the company’s e-commerce package volume double in the first five months of the year.
