Continental Tire will build a smart factory in Hefei city of China

Recently, Continental Tire (China) Co., Ltd. general manager Wang Xiaoji said that the company’s Hefei plant will be built into a smart factory with an annual output value of over 10 billion yuan, Autohome reported.

Continental said that the company will further invest in new equipment, carry out automation upgrades, and introduce the world’s most advanced real-time positioning automatic navigation walking robot technology to create a smart factory.

Continental is currently advancing investment in the fourth phase of the project. By then, the annual output of new radial tires will reach 20 million, and the annual output value will gradually increase from 4.5 billion yuan in 2019 to over 10 billion yuan.

Continental Tire’s Hefei plant is its first tire plant in China. The first phase of the project was officially put into production in May 2011.

In January 2020, Continental’s self-repairing tires and noise reducing tires project officially went into production, which can produce 600,000 self-repairing tires and 400,000 noise reducing tires.

It is reported that Continental Hefei plant has invested 5 billion yuan so far, and has formed a headquarters base integrating production base, China trade settlement center, China R&D and testing center, and Asia Pacific training center.

It has become a global growth engine for Continental tires and an important factory for Continental to implement its Asia-Pacific strategy.
