Pong bot, which is said to be the world’s first table tennis intelligent robot, was revealed at China Table Tennis College in Shanghai University of Sport.

According to the people who have played table tennis with the robot, Pong bot is equivalent to a professional table tennis player, and it can serve 30-85 times per minute with a maximum of 180 balls.

As the first robot in the world who can serve by holding a Ping Pong paddle, Pong bot has two mechanical arms, one for tossing the ball, and the other for hitting it, which mimics the serve movement of a real person.

What’s more, the robot can play the game in different styles through rapidly changing the paddle.

Not only does Pong bot look like a human, but also can analyze the trajectory of the ball as well as the movement of the player, for the R&D team adds analytical modules in the robot’s software.

Besides, Pong bot can be connected with the mobile app. By setting the levels of rotation and speeds, and the serving trajectory as well as the landing position of the ball, Pong bot can be customized and used in training programs.

The trainee can input the training plan made by the coach and practice with the robot. Meanwhile, Pong bot can give feedbacks to optimize the player’s posture.

In the future, this robot may be seen in ordinary life besides table tennis teaching scenario. With Pong bot, table tennis can be played by one person!
