MofCom to promote comprehensive development of branded convenience store chains

The Ministry of Commerce issued a notice on promoting more branded convenience store chains in the next three years, which highlighted the necessity to accelerate arranging the layout of the stores, to promote the digital transformation, and to establish smart supply chains.

The Ministry of Commerce issued a notice on promoting more branded convenience store chains in the next three years, which highlighted the necessity to accelerate arranging the layout of the stores, to promote the digital transformation, and to establish smart supply chains.

According to the notice, the Ministry of Commerce will promote comprehensive development of branded convenience store chains through the mode of “building brands→developing member stores→upgrading the stores”. By 2022, there is expected to have 300,000 branded convenience stores across the country.

The notice also brings up three key tasks in order to achieve the goal, including expanding the scale of convenience stores, promoting the quality and efficiency, and improving service capabilities.

Besides, measures to guarantee the development of convenience stores are introduced, including optimizing policy environment, improving working mechanisms, cultivating relevant enterprises, strengthening statistical monitoring, and so on.
