On August 13, Alibaba.com announced that the purchasing festival on the platform was going to begin from September 1, which was expected to attract 20 million wholesalers from around the world to prepare for the promotion days like Black Friday and Christmas.

Zhang Kuo, the general manager of the international trading department of Alibaba.com, believed that the number of payment buyers as well as the actual transaction value on the platform would be both increased by 100% during the purchasing festival.

During the purchasing festival, Alibaba.com will set up sessions specifically for Black Friday and introduce the group buying wholesale mode for the first time. By providing cross-border supply chain services such as customs clearance, logistics, payment, and currency exchange, Alibaba.com will help sellers save up to 50% of the cost.

For the first time too, the price that buyers see on the platform equals the final price, and the process of making an order resembles that in Taobao.

Besides, Alibaba.com will launch a data product called “Business Advisor” on the platform, helping sellers to make better judgement of the trends and grab business opportunities. At that time, there will be more 20,000 live B2B broadcasts on the platform.
