Shenzhen plans to push five major measures to strive to peak carbon dioxide emissions as soon as possible, according to the announcement by the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment on March 5th.

It specifically includes the followings:

The government should strictly control coal consumption, increase the installed capacity of clean energy power generation, and develop renewable energy;

The government should promote industrial energy conservation and efficiency improvement, upgrade manufacturing capacities, strengthen energy consumption management and control in high-energy-consuming industries, and build green data centers;

The government should promote the integrated development of multi-level urban rail networks, comprehensively promote new energy vehicles, and make plans to build supporting facilities such as charging and hydrogen refueling stations;

The government should raise the star-grades of newly built buildings, popularize prefabricated buildings, and accelerate the transformation of existing public buildings and residential buildings.
