China trio exceed 300 million 5G users

The cumulative number of 5G package users of the three major operators exceeded 300 million.

Today, China Unicom disclosed the number of 5G package users for the first time in its 2020 annual performance report.

As of December 31, 2020, the number of 5G package users of China Unicom reached 70.83 million, and the penetration rate of 5G package users was 23%, which was higher than the industry average of 20%.

So far, China’s three domestic operators have announced the numbers of 5G users.

It is reported that as of the end of last year, the number of 5G package users of China Mobile was 165 million, and that of China Telecom reached 86.5 million.

The cumulative number of 5G package users of the three major operators exceeded 300 million.

Among them, China Mobile has the largest number of 5G users, followed by China Telecom, and China Unicom, which did not close numbers for a long time, ranked last.

It is worth mentioning that in the 2020 financial report recently released by China Unicom, the company’s annual operating income was 303.838 billion yuan, of which service income was 275.8 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.3%. It pre-tax profit was 16 billion yuan, and net profit was 125 billion yuan, an increase of 10.3% year-on-year.

In terms of revenues, China Unicom did pretty well in 2020.

However, compared with China Telecom’s annual revenue of 393.6 billion yuan and China Mobile’s revenue of 389.9 billion yuan in the first half of 2020 (the 2020 financial report has not yet been announced), China Unicom’s revenue is indeed not competitive yet.
