Dongfeng Motors’ home city to build 13,800 charging facilities by 2025

Shiyan has been a major centre of the automobile industry in China, previously serving as the headquarters of Dongfeng Motors, a major Chinese truck, bus, and heavy goods vehicle company.

Shiyan city in Hubei province recently issued a plan on electric vehicle charging and switching facilities Layout Plan (2021-2035). It proposed that by 2025, it will build approximately 138,000 charging and swapping facilities in Shiyan’s central urban area. By 2035, the city will create about 66,000 charging and replacing facilities.

Shiyan has been a major centre of the automobile industry in China, previously serving as the headquarters of Dongfeng Motors, a major Chinese truck, bus, and heavy goods vehicle company.

In the near future (by 2025), it says the city will build a network of charging and swapping facilities with easy access and reasonable layout and support the sustainable development of new energy vehicles. The specific sub-targets are as follows:

Special service areas: It will establish a sustainable development model integrating vehicle services covering operation, parking and charging;

Public areas: The average service radius of each pile within the city is less than 1km, and it will realize the connectivity of the charging and swapping infrastructure of the expressways between cities;

Basic goal: It will provide shared piles in all accessorial parking facilities, with both charging and swapping functions;

Long-term goal (2035): It will build a charging and swapping infrastructure system that is smart, efficient, and carefree to support the development of green energy supply and low-carbon transportation.
